Afriktivity is a project about Slovak development aid in Kenya. It documents activities of various Slovak NGOs in the fields of education, health service, ecology, micro loans, and development of poor communities.
As an EU member state, Slovakia gives development assistance to selected countries using 0.1% of its GDP. In 2012, approximately 68 million Euros were distributed through SlovakAid. Kenya alone received 1.2 million Euros in 2012. Although this support is part of the national budget, most Slovaks don’t know anything about it.
Therefore, the project was aimed to address wide public audience in Slovakia. An outdoor exhibition was touring all major main squares around the country. The project was supported by strong PR and social media. Afriktivity was also presented on a governmental level by a gallery exhibition in Paris, Vienna, Oslo and Bratislava.
